Changing product Category in Amazon, How?
When I launched the Car Brands & Logos card game, Amazon automatically placed it in the "Dedicated Deck Card Games" category. At first, that seemed fine — until I ran into a major limitation:
I couldn’t change the main image of my product listing.
In the "Deck Card Game" category, Amazon has very strict rules: all main images must show only the product box — no contents, no cards, no layout — and it made my listing look boring. Most competitors also had plain box images, and I felt my product had more to offer visually.
That’s when I realized a better solution: move my product to the Educational Flash Cards category — where listings are often more flexible and visual.
I decided to request a category change, and here's exactly how I did it:
Step 1: Open a Case in Seller Central
Go to Help > Get Support > Selling on Amazon > My issue is not listed
Then describe your request clearly, including your ASIN and desired category.
Step 2: Wait for Amazon Review
Within 24–48 hours, Amazon responded with confirmation that my category change was approved.
Why This Category Change Was So Important
It gave me more flexibility with my main image.
Better category fit = better keyword targeting.
Improved alignment with educational/learning-focused parents.
If you're stuck in a category that limits how your product is shown or found, it's worth testing a switch. You just have to ask Amazon support and provide a valid reason — like I did.
